In light of the coronavirus, or COVID-19, it is important to think about sanitization and the other benefits that come with soap.
When it comes to combating the spread to the virus through contact, the CDC recommends that people wash their hands with soap. There’s a common misconception that hand sanitizer might be stronger because it contains alcohol, but it is shown that hand sanitizer only disinfects a fraction of the virus. Therefore, it is time to go back to basics and use soap.
The CDC recommends a 20 second hand washing routine that can be easily replaced with singing the ABCs twice. The chemical makeup of the soap helps pull apart the fat content of the virus and makes the clump soluble, which makes it easy to wash off. This easy 20 second routine can prevent the virus from living and be transmitted. It feels great to be doing a great deed for yourself and society just by washing your hands correctly, am I right? Now with all the current medical benefits, we can’t forget the cosmetic positivity that different soaps bring as well. If you look at the catalog of Kikuchi soap, you can see in an instant the distinctive high-quality ingredients that are featured and used in each bar of soap. Each ingredient has extra benefits. For example, charcoal is great for detoxification and oatmeal with coconut milk has moisturizing and nourishing effects.

My favorite is the 008 Fuyu Shirazu because it is perfect for people like myself with sensitive skin. I was always wary of buying the ‘wrong’ soap that left my skin feeling off, or plain irritated because of the extra chemicals added. The all-natural calendula in the soap releases a delicate and delightful citrus scent and leaves skin feeling soft.
